AI-assisted, human-reviewed
Tasmania Spots uses AI tools to help research venues and draft descriptions at scale. That lets us cover Tasmania thoroughly and keep listings fresh. But AI is an assistant, not an author of record: a person reviews the content we publish, and we're accountable for everything on the site.
We don't invent facts
Specific, checkable details — opening hours, menus, prices, addresses and contact details — are only published when we have a source for them. We'd rather show less than make something up. If we're unsure, we leave it out or flag it, rather than guess. Our descriptions reflect a venue's real character based on the evidence we have, not fiction.
Sourcing & attribution
Our information comes from a mix of sources, including:
- Google Places and Google Maps data
- Venues' own websites and menus
- Publicly available listings and reputable local sources
- Reader submissions and our own knowledge
Where images or facts come from a third party, we attribute them where appropriate and link out so you can check the original.
The Spot Score, in plain language
The Spot Score is our independent rating out of 100. In plain terms, it asks: does this place have a strong reputation, are people drawn to it, do we have good reliable information about it, does it genuinely fit its category, and is that information current? We combine those signals into a single score and a simple label. It's our own methodology — not a Google star rating, and never something a venue can pay to change. The full detail lives in our editorial policy.
Freshness & verification
Venues change constantly, so freshness is built into our process and into the Spot Score itself — older, unverified information counts for less. We re-check listings over time and update them as sources change. Even so, please treat time-sensitive details like hours and menus as a guide and confirm with the venue before you go.
How to report an inaccuracy
Found something wrong, out of date or a venue that's closed? Please tell us at corrections@tasmaniaspots.com and we'll review and fix it quickly. Spotting errors helps everyone, and we're grateful for it.
